The football season will look a little different in 2020, but there will be plenty of great talent on the field. Here are some of the players to watch who will be competing at small colleges in South Carolina.

Diquan Brown, Allen, RB, Jr.
Brown has shown steady growth in the first two years of the revival of the Yellow Jacket football program. He led the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in each of those seasons and picked up 15.6 yards per catch during that two-year span.

DeShun Kitchings, Newberry, WR, Jr.
It didn’t matter which of the Wolves’ QBs was throwing the ball, Kitchings was there to make the catch. He finished second in the SAC in receiving yards with 726 and hauled in four TDs. Kitchings is also key for Newberry in moving the ball downfield as he averaged 18.6 yards per catch.

Rashaad Miller, Benedict, DL, Sr.
A force on the line, Miller is the leading returnee in tackles, recording 47 on the season last year. He was second on the team in tackles-for-loss (8.0) and sacks (2.5) and forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and blocked a kick, as well.

Jerko’Ya Patton, Limestone, RB, Sr.
Patton has set the single-season rushing mark for the Saints twice, last year besting his own record with 965 yards for the year. He did the same thing with rushing touchdowns, breaking his old record with nine TDs in 2019. Five times during the season, Patton had 100-plus yard rushing games and is Limestone’s all-time leader with 2,345 rushing yards for his career.

Johnny Worthy, North Greenville, DB, Sr.
Definitely a player to watch – on defense and on special teams. Worthy is the leading returnee in tackles for the Crusaders, second on the list in 2019. He also had two interceptions and 1.5 tackles-for-loss. But Worthy also showed out on special teams, blocking three kicks last year, two of them in one game.
