Conference Carolinas

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer Championship final was a defensive battle between third seed Francis Marion University and fourth seed Belmont Abbey College. Just as the Patriots did in the semifinals, they scored late to take their first Conference Carolinas crown.

In the first 45 minutes, there were a combined five shots with Belmont Abbey taking three, including the lone shot on target. The second half was more of the same with Belmont Abbey taking six and holding Francis Marion to four shots. However, it was the last shot that gave Francis Marion their first Conference Carolinas championship.

In the final 15 seconds Le’Landra Jarvis played a ball over the defense to Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Kristina Syragakis. Syragakis maneuvered around a defender and placed her shot with her right foot inside the right post with 7.8 seconds remaining to give the Patriots the win.
