GREENWOOD – Coming off the first season in program history, the Lander wrestling team has inked a top-10 signing class to join the squad for the 2020-21 season.
Lander’s recruiting class was ranked 10th nationally by The Open Mat. It marked the second time in two years the Bearcats have been ranked in the top-10 nationally. Lander’s 2019 signing class was ranked No. 9 in Division II by The Open Mat and No. 8 of all non-Division I schools by Wrestling USA Magazine.
Among the incoming Bearcats are Drew Eller, the No. 95-rated wrestler in the class of 2020 and the highest-ranked wrestler to sign with a Division II program. Eller finished his senior season ranked 12th nationally in the 145-pound weight class. Eller, the winner of the Dave Schulz High School Excellence Award for the state of Georgia, was a four-time state champion with an unblemished record in high school. A.J. Brock captured two state titles in Georgia, while Joey Felix, Tayon Wimberly, Josh Cizmadia, and Brennen Crout all won their first state championships in 2020.
