GREENVILLE, S.C. – The NCCAA is pleased to announce Kayle Stevenson of Bob Jones University (BJU) as the 2021 Joe and Q Harding Award Recipient for Division I Women’s Soccer.
In Stevenson’s first semester at BJU, the Lord gracefully saved her. From that moment, she began to live differently. The junior midfielder has a yearning passion for being a light in this world and sharing the transforming love of Christ with as many as she can. She is a journalism and mass communications major and has made the President’s List in each of her semesters at BJU.
Her exceptionally high soccer IQ leads her to be in the right spot at the right time and consistently score. Stevenson is top ten in goals scored in NCCAA Division I this season and top-five all-time in goals scored in program history. Aside from serving as co-captain of the soccer team, she leads a discipleship group in her dorm, is a member of the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC), is a student-reporter for WBJU, and is a member of Lambda Pi Eta.
Stevenson attends Cornerstone Church and is involved in children’s ministry in the toddler room, as well as working with second and third graders. In the community, she has volunteered with Best Buddies, Special Olympics, and a local assisted living facility near her home. She has also volunteered at Piedmont Women’s Center in Greenville, S.C.
“Kayle is one of the sweetest and most honest people I have met and one with the highest integrity when it comes to truth and always doing the right thing when nobody is watching,” Bob Jones head women’s soccer coach Dr. Chris Carmichael said. “She is one of the main reasons for our success as a team. Kayle is an elite level midfielder that directs our attacks and continues to be one of our leading goal scorers.”
